Chasmophilous

She spoke of people as if they were a mystery,
Little bits of emotion and thought,
Meant to be dissected like a piece of literature,
But some she kept close,
Like a favorite novel, with well-worn, dog-eared pages and notes written in the margins,
And there were many with ripped pages and mangled covers,
But she did her best to tape and paste them back to a decent state,
Unfortunately, she always had trouble remembering that things don't go back the same way once they break,
So she kept this mismatched library that didn't belong to her,
And tried her best to understand these characters,
And they were there for her when she felt like her pages were being ripped and tattered,
Because sometimes the most worn novels are the ones with the most provoking tales.
